6. Becky Clark (Manchester Metropolitan University)

Becky Clarke is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work examines the processes of ‘othering’ and criminalisation; the merging of penal and welfare policies, and the characteristics of contemporary policies including what counts as success; and how knowledge, and ignorance, is constructed, and the relationship between knowledge, politics and policy. Here she talks about her research around joint enterprise and the policing of ‘gangs’, and the underlying racist assumptions.
