The UK has a proud history of the struggle against racism that was forged in the heart of Britain’s many black and minority communities and shaped by mass campaigns, action, new and vibrant analysis and theory. Over the years it has been weakened, some argue defeated, by a combination of state responses, the so called success of the BME middle class and disintegration of the left in Society. Is this an accurate summary of events? What does the future hold and what should be our priorities?
