Staff

Clare Rhule (Business Contracts Manager)

I have been working in and with the voluntary sector for over 30 years and have a background in community development and grant making.  I wanted to get involved with TMG because of its ethos – its commitment to civil rights and social justice and the outstanding work it does to support victims of race-hate crime.   As Business Contracts Manager my role is to help the organisation to become sustainable so it can continue to provide services to people in traumatic circumstances.   As a new recruit to the organisation it has been great getting to know other staff members and I am looking forward to getting involved as appropriate with cases/campaigns that are in the public interest.

Derrick Mclean (Helpline Cordinator)

Derrick has held a variety of management roles in the housing sector, during his career he managed many aspects of housing management and care and support in a consultancy capacity working for Local authorities, private landlords and housing associations. He has been a board member of housing and victim support organizations for over 18 years. Derrick is new to the organization and is driven by our vision of high aspirations and high attainment for, and by, all.

She joined The Monitoring Group on the Min Quan project in Manchester in 2007. Prior to working at The Monitoring Group, she completed her Masters in Social Policy.

Salima Hafejee (Cordinator West Yorkshire Civil Rights Project)

Passionate on equality and human rights  and creating opportunities for inclusion, in particular with young people.

Jagdish Patel (Head of Development)

My role at TMG involves developing the project across the east Midlands, developing the arts portfolio, fund raising, working with clients as well as overseeing the overall development portfolio. I have worked in the charity sector for over 20 years, both with clients and at a strategic level in  a range of setting, including homelessness, ex offenders, mental health and youth work.  I chose to work for TMG because of the important role independent grassroots campaigning plays in helping people and developing social justice.

Qi Lin (Southampton Development Officer)

Qi Lin joined the Min Quan project in Southampton in 2006. His role is to create an effective victim support infrastructure across Southampton and Portsmouth region by developing coherent relationships with voluntary, community and statutory agencies and to engage the Chinese community.

He has developed a strategic partnership with Chinese Association of Southampton and Chinese Students and Scholar Association of Southampton, and established Southampton Race Solidarity Group which unites many diverse BME communities to tackle racial harassment and violence in the locality. He believes in putting Chinese victims at the centre and providing culturally appropriate victim support. “Empowering Chinese and other BME communities against racism is a long struggle, but I believe any little step and little achievement will make a difference.” Before coming to The Monitoring Group, Lin worked for 10 years in China as a radio broadcaster.

Rachael McKindley (North West Development Worker)

I have worked with diverse groups across Liverpool enabling community engagement and participation. When working with Liverpool’s Black and other Racial Minorities (BRM) Network I helped local groups to develop an Action Plan which was funded by local government and adopted by multiple agencies. It ensured that local BRM communities had a say in strategic decision making and planning. The BRM Network consulted on five themes: Crime, Education, Employment, Housing and Health and I have a good understanding in each of these areas. I am passionate about human rights and equal opportunities for all. I am looking forward to helping empower communities or individuals suffering from racism and ensuring services in the North-West meet the needs of race hate victims.
