Arrests after student race crimes in Sussex

Police investigating race crimes in a Sussex seaside town have made three arrests since April and expect to make a fourth imminently.

The figures were released after reports of race attacks in which foreign students were punched and verbally abused in Newhaven over the summer.

Police have recorded five race crimes in the Lewes district since April, compared with four last year.

Four incidents were public order offences, and one was an assault.
