AN ETHIOPIAN who twice tried to kill himself after alleged racial abuse at work is claiming a record £8million damages. Nardos Mulugeta, who earned £20,000 a year at copier company Xerox, claims he was bullied by a British National Party supporter who wanted him to ‘go home’. He told a tribunal that Jeff Sarling said he was ‘lucky he’s working with us, his grandfather used to work as a servant’. Mr Sarling also called a woman client a ‘black whore’ and branded a colleague a ‘black c***’, he alleged. The 40-year-old accused Xerox of blocking him from seeing a counsellor and encouraging a ‘racially discriminatory culture’. Mr Mulugeta began work at Xerox in London after being granted asylum in 2000. In one incident, Mr Sarling wrote the word ‘go’ in company documents next to Mr Mulugeta’s name because he wanted him to leave the country, the tribunal heard.
