Former constable denies racial abuse

A former special constable denied in court today that he had racially abused a bouncer at a Wiltshire Police Christmas Party in 2010.

Philip Upton, 29, and Peter Lawson, 38, are on trial at Bristol Crown Court accused of using threatening behaviour and racist language to door staff at the Hall and Woodhouse in Bath.

They were among eight road traffic police who, it is alleged, behaved loudly and drunkenly and had to be ejected from the bar by Italian bouncer Antonio Leo.
