The Monitoring Group provides advice, assistance and support to victims of hate crime.

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has been the subject of more than 4,000 racist messages via social media this season, according to research from anti-discrimination body Kick It Out.

The organisation’s research estimates that there have been over 134,0000 discriminatory posts this term with 34,000 of them directed towards Premier Leagueplayers.

England pair Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck received more than 1,000 discriminatory posts each.

The research was carried out by Tempero, a social media management agency, and analytics firm Brandwatch and looked at specific case studies including Liverpool striker Balotelli, Welbeck and Sturridge.
