Nottingham train attack victim reveals family fears

A Muslim man attacked on a train to Nottingham said he was disappointed other passengers failed to intervene while racist insults were made.

A gang of about 20 men were involved in the attack in which Asif Ahmed, who was travelling with wife Abida Malik, was put in a headlock.

Mr Ahmed said the experience had made him more determined to step in if he saw others in trouble.

He claimed incidents against Muslims had become an “epidemic”.

The gang, believed to be from Derby, boarded the train at Loughborough on Easter Sunday evening, after what British Transport Police believe was a drinking session.
