Racist woman painted Sunderland shop black in vendetta against Asian owner

A RACIST woman with a vendetta against her local shop painted the front of the store black before returning with a hammer.

Wendy Hunter painted the shutters and sign of the Best One shop in Sea Road, Fulwell, Sunderland, with black emulsion in the early hours of October 20.

The 48-year-old’s vandalism was captured on CCTV, which showed her approaching the shop with a pot of paint and a brush before spending five minutes painting the store.

Owner Ravinder Singh discovered the damage when he arrived to open up at 8am, and Hunter, of nearby Atkinson Road, returned three hours later with a hammer.

She pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and causing racially aggravated fear, provocation or violence when she appeared at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.

Paul Doney, prosecuting, said: “The injured party was serving a customer when the defendant entered the store carrying a hammer.
